Botswana Holidays

africa
Botswana holidays offer exceptional game viewing, pristine landscapes and a diverse range of exciting activities, making it one of Africa’s premier safari destinations.

Explore wildlife-rich Chobe National Park on a thrilling game drive or with a sundowner in hand on a sunset cruise. Glide through the waterways of the unique Okavango Delta in a mokoro canoe or stretch your legs on a walking safari. Further south, the remote desert plains of the Kalahari provide a fascinating contrast.

Botswana is home to a host of high quality camps and lodges, with many accessible only by scenic light aircraft flight, so is an ideal choice for luxury safari holidays and honeymoons. Combine with a visit to majestic Victoria Falls for a truly varied African adventure.

Trailfinders offers a range of Botswana holidays and our expert travel consultants are a mine of information, often with first-hand travel experience. Whether you want to explore on a fly in safari or on a sociable small group adventure tour or are looking for advice on combining a holiday to Botswana with other exciting destinations – they are the perfect people to ask.

This beautiful inland delta is considered one of the world’s greatest natural wonders. The flowing waters create a unique environment home to a diverse range of animals including prolific birdlife.

The Kalahari Desert is one of the world’s largest sand basins covering much of Botswana and parts of Namibia and South Africa.
Makgadikgadi Pans National Park
One of Botswana’s lesser known attractions, Makgadikgadi Pans National Park is a vast, desolate landscape which supports many desert adapted species including springbok, gemsbok, aardvark and meerkat.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT BOTSWANA?

The best time to visit Botswana is the dry season between May and September, when temperatures are moderate and wildlife viewing at its best. Floodwaters also come to the Okavango Delta from June to October, creating the waterways for which it is famous.

The green season from November to March brings humid conditions and rain showers but wildlife is still plentiful in many areas, particularly the Central Kalahari Game Reserve.

Botswana Top Tips From Our Travel Experts

Emily Peopall - expert
Emily Peopall

Chobe is a special region. Very few safari locations in the world offer such rich and natural sightings just 15-20 minute drive from an International Airport. A true Elephant Paradise where Botswana has 1/3 of Africa's elephants and Chobe has half of that population.

Carrie Hawes - expert

UNESCO protected Okavango Delta is a wildlife lover's paradise. Meandering canals, open grassy plains and luxury lodges make this destination a must for those wanting to experience of the most beautiful, colourful regions on earth.

Robbie O'Brien - expert

Savuti is a world famous safari destination most well known for the Marsh Pride of lions that are elephant specialists. For predator-prey interactions there are very few places in the world that can provide such consistent and reliable sightings in the natural habitat. Truly a wonder.
